CPRE Protect Kent is ‘Kent’s Planning Watchdog’. We want planning to be fairer, engage communities, protect the countryside and regenerate our towns and villages. Good land-use planning is the unsung hero of environmental protection and has always been one of Protect Kent’s top campaigning priorities. Good planning can curb urban sprawl and protect Kent’s beauty and tranquility.
If you think that democracy is just about putting a cross on a bit of paper every few years, think again. Planning is the day-to-day battlefield of our democracy; if you aren't part of the process then you may not like the outcome...
If you want to find out more about the how the planning system works in England then visit the national CPRE Planning Help website.
We can offer our members specialist planning advice on:
- responding to planning applications
- getting involved in Local Development Frameworks
- Public Inquiries
- Neighbourhood planning - we are currently getting to grips with implications of the forthcoming "Localism Bill"
We can provide bespoke workshops and training, which is particularly popular among Parish Councils.
We regularly appear at Public Inquiries, Examinations in Public and other hearings. These processes can seem arcane and impenetrable to the ordinary person that just wants to have their say. We can help.
We have a strong track record in influencing Local Development Frameworks around Kent, to ensure that encroachment of development into the countryside is minimised, and that the development that is permitted has to meet high standards of design and environmental performance.
